Adam Hovey – Graphic Designer and now a Dad….
After
8 years, 6 rounds of IVF and around £36,000 it finally happened, our
miracle baby girl arrived! Phoenix Reign Hovey was born on the 7th July
2019 at 11:29am and I became a dad.
In the weeks leading up to the birth, everyone kept telling me the same old clichés like: “Ooooh better get plenty of sleep now because soon you won’t get any!”, another one was “Say goodbye to your social life”. So to everyone that gave me these bits of advice… you were wrong HA! At time of writing she is 7 weeks old and has given us 8 hours a night since she was born and the only people I’m interested in hanging out with now are my little girl and partner anyway so… lucky? I think so.
Phoenix is the most alert, beautiful, chilled out, hilarious baby I’ve ever seen (biased I know), in fact, she’s so perfect that me and my partner Emma continuously feel like we have to ‘give her back’ soon! Has becoming a dad changed me? Yes and no, it makes me work even harder to do my part in ensuring the business continues to grow and pushes me to improve my design work every time I get a new project. At the same time, I do all the same things I used to but with one more awesome little person… although I have more than just my phone and keys when I go out now!
I can’t say I have any complaints about fatherhood, every day is exciting with subtle little changes we notice in her behaviours and personality. Now everyone is telling me “wait until she starts running around, you’ll be knackered”… well I CAN’T wait, the sooner she walks, the sooner she can start delivering leaflets and earning her keep.
